23/11/10 - Artefact Lesson

In todays lesson we looked at a slideshow of artists which was aimed to inspire us and make us think about our shoe design. I wasnt going to change my shoe until i saw this slideshow and have now changed my shoe design, which instead of a checked shoe with a cotten reel as a heel, i have decided to stick some needles to a thin material and dip in wax to create a blurred vintage effect. We finished any plans we needed to finish and then went on to start creating our shoes. I had to make a shoe pattern for my 'Fashion Shoe' and i done this by getting a shoe template and covering it in masking tape, and cutting out the sections which would then fit together to form the shoe much like the net of a cube. Next lesson im continuing this and making the base of my shoe out of a thin material. I learnt about some interesting artists in this lesson and how u can make a shoe out of anything to look like anything, if u put your mind to it.

Health and Safety when making my shoe

When making my shoe i will be using materials such as sharp needles and wire which can be dangerous,to prevent injury make sure i keep my needles in the packet until i need them and if im using wire be careful to cut it with wire cutters and make sure its near no one elses face. I also need to be carfull when using the penknifes and need to keep away from everyone else and make sure im not jogged.

Paper Shoes

The paper shoes we made at the start of the year in Artefact were meant to help us later on when we were making our actual shoes. This is because we had to put the shoe together and design it ourselves which made us thinkabout what we wanted our shoes to look like. My paper shoe was blue and gold and i tried to give it a vintage edge with the rich waxy gold colour i used ... it reflected a little bit on the design of my actual shoe as i used the blue and the vintage effect but ive changed my shoe design now which you can read in another one of my newer blog posts but it still has the vintage edge and making the little paper shoe made me think independantly about how i wanted my shoe to look.

How our Campaigns going

Last week when donations were meant to be bought in none of the Campaigns got any donations and we think this is because we didnt advertise out Campaigns enough or for long enough and its considered 'uncool' for children our age to donate. And I think one of the reasons is that a lot of people couldnt be bothered to walk all the way to the Drama Studio at their lunch or breaktime and i think it would've helped if we had a different room for them to bring their donations to. So, now were going to change our target audience to the teachers, weve now started making posters to be read out in staff breafing so that all teachers know including the part time teachers which can hand their donations in to Mr.Cole or Mrs.Haythorpe if they arnt here on a tuesday. We hope the teachers will do a better job at donating than the students!

09/11/10 - Campaign Lesson

In todays lesson we carried on working on and improving our blogs by working through the learning objectives,i found out that i need to put evidence to my work to make it of a higher standard,we also talked about making a questionaire to give to the younger children to evaluate if they think we did well and what they think we could improve, which would be helpful when completing leanring objective 5.4 and we worked on improving out t.v adverts and performances ready to film them next week.

09/11/10 - Artefact Lesson

In todays lesson we went over what we should be doing and putting in our blogs and how to improve them,we looked at exemplery blogs and work and i gained a few ideas of how i could make my work better;i need to be more creative with how i present it and put a little big more effort in e.g instead of writing the bare minimum add more to my work to make it of a higher standerd.Afterwards we carried on planning our shoe and i went into the i.c.t suite and printed off some pictures for my plan, and then started to improve my blog after what was said in lesson.

Questionaire

This Questionaire will measure how well we think and how well the year 2's think we have done with our Campaign and will measure its success:

Theatre in Education

Theatre in Education is using Drama or Media to help children learn about something i.e charities and sharing.
In the campaign part of my Diploma we are using Theatre in Education to teach young year 2 children how to share and give their old good quality toys and clothes (and maybe even electrical goods if your donating to Quidenham) to charity.

We were inspired to do this because recently we had the 'Tiny Giants theatre conpany' come into school and give us a performance called 'Perfect' and we thought it would've been a good way to teach younger children.

Shoe Work

These are the pictures from when we did the work on how shoes used to be made, ive written up the factory information by hand but im putting the pictures on here.

Video Journal - How Would I Use It

I found Tuesday interesting because i learnt that i could express myself in other ways other than just writing,i could do a Video Journal. On Tuesday i learnt what an editing script was and even tried doing one myself which was quite hard because it was very fast,i also learnt that i could do different kinds of filming in my video journal other than just filming myself talking to the camera;i could use it so you dont see my face, but you see what i see.

I would use a video journal in Artefact to film all the different stages of when i'm making my shoe - for example, i could film myself  during lesson and then tell the camera what i found difficult and easy about that lesson and what i will need to do next lesson. I could use a video journal in Campaign by filming any shop visits and then talk to the camera about what i have learnt from that visit and also how our advert is coming along,i could even put a film of us doing our advert into my video journal.

What happned in todays lesson - 02/11/10

In todays lesson we made a final plan of the activities and games we would be doing with the year 2's and focused alot on how we would get them to calm down or be quiet,by using techniques suck as,putting their hands on their head and counting to ten, or when a year 10 shouts 'hip' the year 2's shout 'hop',basically to engage them and get their attention again.
One of the games we have chosen to do is 'Find the toys' which is when the year 10's hide all of the toys in a classroom and the year 2's go in and find a toy - if they find more than one they have to give their toy to someone who hasn't found one yet, making the whole idea of sharing or 2 "donating" clear to them, because the point of the whole day is to get the to donate their old good quality toys to charity which is sharing, but we've used games such as this to get the point accross first.
An activity we have planned is where two of the year 10's are acting out a scene where they are not sharing something, and when the year 2's see that they are not sharing they will shout 'STOP' and will tell the year 10's how to do it correctly and if they wanted, join in themselves.

Fashion Illustration

This was the Fashion Illustration i drew for Artefact, its a high heeled shoe with a gap in the middle and a zip up the front - based on on a pair of my own shoes.I used watercolours to paint it;i was thinking about painting it red but i thought if i was going to buy the shoe myself...id prefer it in a darker colour.

3.2 - Generate appropriate ideas.

Investigating a campaign - Childline

The main message behind this campaign  is to stop child abuse of any form, they use ideas such as 'full stop' which is a green smiley face representing a full stop and the end of child abuse.
Obviosuly the target audience for this particular campaign would be children up to the age of about 17 but it also helps adults or other young children to report of any child abuse they know about
The main methods used to appeal to the target audience (children) is big bold writing, the idea of 'put a full stop to child abuse now' using the green smiley face and making there website and t.v adverts as child friendly/appealing as possible. I remember when someone dressed as a green smiley face used to bring in rulars and rubbers into primary school and told us about the charity and what it does.
This campaign is a very successfull campaign with lots of child abuse stopped each day. It's now national and so big that i even remember the number without needing to look for it,which is a very good thing in my eyes,if they can get children like me,that arnt even being abused,to remember something important about their charity
.

Learning objective 5.1 - Understand the nature and purpose of campaigns.
